In 1952 Prof. Fathi Mahmoud, a well-known sculptor, established the first mass production factory for artistic earth-ware articles in Egypt. After two decades of leading this industry, in 1980 an association with two major German porcelain manufacturers resulted in the construction of the first porcelain factory in the Middle East located in Alexandria on a surface area of twenty-two acres and furnished with the latest German technology of that era.
